About Kaleton Ltd

Kaleton was founded by James Fell in 2003. After completing a Computer Science degree at the University of York, James wanted to apply his technical knowledge to creating a successful IT business. With a noticeable lack of high quality ISPs in the Leeds area and a big interest in network technologies Kaleton was initially set up to provide web hosting and email services to local companies. Kaleton has since grown into a full IT solutions company and has become known for integrity, professionalism and trustworthiness.

James Fell

Chairman. James' main skills and qualifications are listed below.

• Graduated with BEng(Hons) degree in Computer Science from the University of York.
• Succesfully completed the prestigious EC Council's Certified Ethical Hacker, Certified Security Analyst and Licenced Penetration Tester courses at Leeds College of Technology.
• Completed Microsoft's 'Implementing and Managing Microsoft Exchange Server 2003' course at Leeds College of Technology.
• Completed the Electronic Surveillance Techniques course at ISS Training Ltd in Harrogate.
• Previously worked in IT and management roles at successful companies such as BAE Systems and LNT Group.
• Main area of expertise is networks, servers and information security. Also has experience of software development, web and graphic design.

Yvonne Fell

Director and Web Developer. Yvonne's main skills and qualifications are listed below.

• Studied Computer Science at the University of Texas, El Paso in the USA.
• Has worked solely in the IT industry since 1998.
• Involved in web site development and graphic design since 2002. This is now Yvonne's main area of activity.
• Strong PHP/MySQL development skills.
• Extensive experience of database systems including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL.

We keep up to date with all the latest Internet security issues and vulnerabilities to ensure the safety of our network. Our servers are in data centres with high physical security.

Our Network

United States Network

All of Kaleton Internet's US servers are located inside The Planet's large and secure SAS 70 Type II certified data centre in Houston, Texas. Our servers are connected to the Internet via a total of six Gigabit Ethernet links, a DS-3 and also an OC-3. These connections are provided by Time Warner, Verio, Cogent, Williams, Allegiance, MFN, Savvis and ELI. It is this large number of different bandwidth providers that ensures our customers' web sites are always accessible.

The data center has the following features to ensure the safety and reliability of all our servers :

• Redundant UPS systems
• Generator backup
• VESPA detection systems
• Closed circuit monitoring of all areas and entrances
• Card key access
• 24 hour guard manned security
• Redundant a/c systems
• Redundant fiber connections from several bandwidth providers

Our servers are uncapped on a 1000Mbps Ethernet subnet allowing them to cope with very large 'traffic spikes'. Our customers' web sites all have well over 99% uptime.

Offshore Network

We have offshore hosting servers located in various countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The exact locations and also the companies running the data centres that we use are not made public for security reasons. However, you can rest assured that we only locate servers in data centres that meet our tough requirements for privacy, security and stability.

All offshore data centres we use have the following features :

• Multiple backbone carriers
• Redundant UPS systems
• Diesel generators for backup power
• Fire suppression systems
• Located in a geographically/seismically stable region

Server Software

All our servers are running reliable, secure and stable distributions of the Linux operating system. We regularly audit our servers for security vulnerabilities and apply all server patches and upgrades as soon as they are released by vendors.
